Confirmed: Google+ larger than Linkedin on all important user metrics
Several numbers made public in the last couple of weeks, confirm that Google+ is larger than Linkedin on all important user metrics: worldwide users, worldwide monthly visitors, US monthly visitors and US weekly visits. Here are the Google+/Linkedin ratios:Worldwide user-base: Google+: 250/Linkedin: 174 million. During the Google I/O conference in the end of June, Vic Gundotra reported that 250 million people worldwide have “upgraded” to Google+. In LinkedIn’s 2nd Quarter Report, released last week, Linkedin reported that the platform now has 174 million “members”.Worldwide monthly visitors: Google+ 110.7/Linkedin: 106 million. Three weeks ago, we reported that according to comScore, Google+ had 110.7 million visitors in June. During the presentation of LinkedIn’s 2nd Quarter Report last week, Linkedin reported, also with comScore as a source, that Linkedin had 106 million monthly visitors in the 2nd Quarter.US monthly visitors: Google+: 33.2/Linkedin: 25.2 million. Today, 17th of August, Compete has released the July US visitor numbers (se graph and more later in the article). According to these, Google+ had 33.2 million visitors and Linkedin 25.2 million visitors in July.US weekly visits: Google+: 39.2/Linkedin: 19.1 million. Last week we reported that Google+ had 39.2 million visits in the week ending 11th of August. Linkedin had 19.2 million visits in the same week. The Social Network visitors in July
According to Compete as of today, these are the US social network numbers (in million visitors) for July, including the percentage change compared to June.
Facebook 160.3 (+1.1%)
YouTube 155.9 (+1.3%)
Twitter 45.4 (+6.6%)
Google+ 33.2 (+4.0%)
Linkedin 25.2 (+2.2%)
Tumblr 22.4 (+3.3%)
MySpace 21.8 (-0.6%)
Pinterest 21.2 (+9%)
You may recall that Google+ from May to June jumped 43%, while July numbers shows a slower growth. With the weekly numbers from Experian Hitwise (see link further below), we could expect another jump in Compete August visitors numbers, which will be available in the middle of September.Appendix - Google+ growth story continues
Last week we reported that according to Experian Hitwise, Google+ US traffic jumped 79% in three weeks:http://bit.ly/TQdOZR
Three weeks ago we reported that according to comScore, Google+ had 110.7 million unique visitors worldwide in June, a growth of 66% compared to last November. http://bit.ly/OqubLn
Four weeks ago we reported that according to Compete data, Google+ U.S. visitors grew 43% in June, to 31.9 million unique visitors.http://bit.ly/NxTrjM
Two weeks ago, we also published a post about Google+ growth stories going global from a loft apartment in Oslo, Norway:http://bit.ly/TQdQRC
While both Compete and comScore reports unique visitors, the Experian Hitwise numbers reports visits. All the data from comScore, Compete and Experian Hitwise are desktop only, and do not include mobile devices (smartphone and tablets). According to Google’s +Vic Gundotra Google+ now has higher traffic via mobile devices than via desktop. According to the same Gundotra, more than half of Google+ postings are made non-public.#googleplusgrowth #EvangG
